Four outstanding student-athletes from Saint Joseph Academy committed to colleges on Wednesday.  The four Jaguars are:

Claire Orsagos – Ohio Northern University basketball
Annie Rolf – Lindenwood University rugby
Ellen Vichill – Marietta College basketball
Lauren Zawie – Cleveland State University track & field

Orsagos has been the point guard for the Jaguars and a team-captain since her sophomore season.  She led the Jaguars in assists in each of those seasons.  She has received the “Jaguar Award”, “Heart and Hustle Award” and “Coaches Award” in the last three seasons respectively from the SJA coaching staff. Orsagos will be joining a strong basketball program at Ohio Northern.  The Polar Bears advanced to the NCAA Division 3 Elite Eight and went 30-1 in 2016-17.

Rolf has played an instrumental role in the tremendous success of the SJA rugby program over the last four years.  She has helped lead the Jaguars to state titles in 2014, 2015 and 2016 while also guiding the Jags to their first-ever national championship in 2016.  Rolf and her teammates will be looking for four-straight state titles and repeat of their national championship this spring.  Rolf was named Miss Rugby Ohio in 2016 which is awarded each year to the top high school player in the state.  Rolf is a team captain and has been named the team’s MVP Forward each of the last two seasons.  Lindenwood University, which plays in the USA Rugby Women’s Division 1 Elite League, was the site of the Jaguars’ national championship in 2016.

Vichill was a three-year member of the varsity basketball program at SJA and helped Jaguar basketball to a 48-25 record during that time.  Vichill earned the “Jaguar Award” from the SJA coaching staff following her sophomore season.  She is a member of the National Honor Society and has received academic honors during her four years at the Academy.  Marietta is a member of the Ohio Athletic Conference.

Zawie is a four-year letterwinner in outdoor track and field along with being a two-year letterwinner in indoor track.  She is a three-time state qualifier as she competed at the outdoor state meet in 2016 in the 4×100 relay and 4×200 relay while also competing at the 2016 indoor state meet in the 4×200 relay.  As an individual, she was a regional finalist in the 200 meter dash during the 2016 outdoor season.  Zawie was also a regional qualifier in outdoor track in 2014 in the 200 meter dash. She has earned numerous team awards and has been a team captain at SJA.  She currently is a member of three relay teams that hold school records (4×100, 4×200 and 800 meter sprint medley).
