Game Recap

The Saint Joseph Academy rugby team captured its fifth-straight state title and 7th overall on Saturday evening with a 66-12 win over Hudson High School in the Rugby Ohio state championship game, played at Rocky River High School.

The Jaguars once again dominated Ohio rugby all season long. They went 8-0 against opponents from the Buckeye State and outscored those teams a combined 536-29.

Saint Joseph Academy now has won rugby state titles in 2010, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017.

The Jaguars jumped out to a 29-0 lead on Hudson before the Explorers made the game a little closer as they scored the final 12 points of the first half but still trailed 29-12 at intermission. SJA then turned it on in the second half as they dominated play throughout and scored 37 unanswered points.
