Meet Recap

The Jaguar tennis team traveled to Massillon Jackson today to compete against one of the top teams in Northeast Ohio. The Jags put up a good fight on all courts, but fell 5-0 to the Polar Bears. Julie Lorincz made her SJA debut and played a very competitive match against two-time state qualifier Emily Thomas. The second doubles team of Angela Weiland and Kerrigan Ponsart played the closest match of the day, falling 7-6, 6-3 at second doubles. The loss drops the Jags to 7-2 on the season and 2-2 in NEOTA league play. SJA is back in action on Friday when they host Shaker Heights in the second round of the Ohio Tennis Coaches’ Association (OTCA) Team Tournament.

Singles: Emily Thomas (MJ) d. Julie Lorincz 6-2, 6-3; Megan Reese (MJ) d. Melissa Martin 6-0, 6-3; Molly Altman (MJ) d. Mary Kate Kahl 6-0, 6-2.

Doubles: Mackenzie Ecrement/Samantha Reese (MJ) d. Abby Weaver/Bridget FitzGerald 6-1, 6-1; Chiara Archer/Jillian Cardi (MJ) d. Angela Weiland/Kerrigan Ponsart 7-6 (7-3), 6-3.
