The Jaguar tennis team suffered their first defeat of the season on Thursday, falling 4-1 to a talented Hudson team. In doubles action, the first doubles team of Abby Weaver/Bridget FitzGerald were victorious 6-3, 6-0 to get the Jaguars off to a quick 1-0 lead. Hudson was able to rally and take all three singles courts. Kerrigan Ponsart led the Jags in singles as she had a very competitive match at second singles before falling 7-5, 6-2. The second doubles team of Angela Weiland/Maggie Griffin had a back-and-forth battle as they split a pair of 6-2 sets. In the third set tiebreaker, Weiland and Griffin rallied from a 1-7 deficit to tie the score at 8-8 and 9-9 before eventually falling 11-9. The loss drops the Jags to 6-1 on the season and 1-1 in NEOTA league play. SJA is back in action with league matches on Tuesday (at Orange) and Wednesday (at Massillon Jackson).
