Saint Joseph Academy senior Sydney Seymour and sophomore Annie Allen already had plans for next weekend. Now they are just going to be a little busier.
Both distance runners from the SJA track & field team had punched their ticket to the OHSAA Division 1 State track & field meet on Wednesday as they were part of the 4×800 relay team (along with Amanda Keim and Maggie Wagner) that finished third to qualify for Columbus.
On Friday evening, both girls advanced in individual events as well. Seymour broke her own school record to place third in the 3200 meter run in a time of 11:03.48. Allen posted a personal best with a time of 5:06.79 to take third in the 1600 meter run. The top four in each regional advance to the state meet.
Also competing on Friday were junior thrower Emma Pesicka (13th in the discus), junior Timmia Crayton-Prioleau (15th in the long jump) and senior pole vaulter Natalie Larkman (11th place).
The 4×800 relay team will run at 4:45 p.m. on Friday evening at Jesse Owens Stadium at Ohio State University. Allen and Seymour will run on Saturday in their individual events.
