Saint Joseph Academy is pleased to announce that the school has accepted an invitation to join the North Coast League (NCL) athletic conference starting with the 2018-19 school year.
“This is a great opportunity for us to join high schools that share our same faith-based mission,” said Athletic Director John Manuszak. “We are thankful to the member schools for their invitation and are excited to begin conference play in the fall of 2018. It’s a great time to be a Jaguar!”
The NCL is one of the most competitive conferences in the state of Ohio. During the past year, NCL member schools that Saint Joseph Academy will compete against have captured state titles in volleyball, soccer, basketball and softball while also having multiple teams advance to regionals and several appearances in the state final four.
As a conference member, Saint Joseph Academy student-athletes will have the ability to compete against some of the top players and teams on a more frequent basis which will help student-athletes develop their skills and enable Saint Joseph Academy athletics to continue to grow. In addition, being a member of the NCL allows Saint Joseph Academy to contend for conference titles along with providing another opportunity for student-athletes to earn recognition for their accomplishments. Conference play creates and encourages meaningful games and rivalries with member schools while also allowing more structure from an academic standpoint with specific days of the week for games and more consistent scheduling and travel.
Some sports will play a conference schedule while others will compete in a conference meet or tournament. Crew, Indoor Track & Field and Rugby will not be affected by joining the NCL.
