Saint Joseph Academy’s record-setting basketball season came to an end on Tuesday night as the Jaguars fell 48-32 to a talented Solon team. The loss marked the end of an outstanding season for the Jaguars. SJA fell just short of a school record for wins in a season as they ended their season 20-6. They also became the first district basketball champions in school history after their run through the Valley Forge district.
Against Solon, the Jaguars were held to just 11 points in the first half and fell behind 22-11 at intermission. The Comets, ranked #6 in the final D1 state poll, answered each time the Jaguars crept closer. Kathleen DeCarlo opened the second half with a basketball that made the score 22-13 but the Jaguars could never get any closer than that nine-point deficit.
Molly Neitzel led the way for the Jaguars with eight points.
It also marked the final game for the Jaguars’ seven seniors. Congratulations to Bridget FitzGerald, Claudia Becker, Colleen Neitzel, Molly Dever, Kayla Lenahan, Bre Coleman and Kathleen DeCarlo on a great season!
