The Saint Joseph Academy track & field team finished as the district runner-up on Friday at Mayfield High School and in the process advanced eight athletes to the regional meet. The Jaguars finished with a total of 81 points to finish second behind Mentor High School.
Junior thrower Emma Pesicka is a district champion thanks to her first place finish in the shot put (38’6″) which she competed in on Wednesday. She followed that up on Friday with a third-place finish in the discus (112’0″) to advance to regionals in both events.
Senior Sydney Seymour and sophomore Annie Allen had outstanding performances on Friday evening. Seymour just missed her own school record in the 3200 meter run with a time of 11:04.69 to finish as the district runner-up. She also finished third in the 1600 meter run in a time of 5:17.72. Allen was second in the 1600 meter run with a time of 5:17.72 and fourth in the 3200 meter run in 11:12.18 to advance to regionals in both events.
Junior Timmia Crayton-Prioleau and senior Natalie Larkman each advanced to regionals in their respective events. Crayton-Prioleau advanced in the long jump with a jump of 16’8″ while Larkman finished third in the pole vault at 10’3″.
Already advancing to regionals from Wednesday’s performances were Madison Wilson (shot put) and the 4×800 meter relay team of Annie Allen, Maggie Wagner, Amanda Keim, Sydney Seymour who finished second in a time of 9:29.91.
Regionals are Wednesday and Friday at Austintown Fitch High School.
