The SJA gymnastics team competed in a tough sectional meet placing 7th overall where 24 different schools were represented. The girls fell short of advancing to the district meet but gained valuable competition experience in a high pressure setting. These girls did an excellent job with new skills, new routines, and improved execution over the past few weeks, ending the season on a very positive note. Sophomore, Abby Synk finished the meet landing a great vault, reaching her goal of improving her score from last year’s sectional meet. Sophomore, Abbie Harden scored a season high 8.55 on beam, missing district qualification by .2 and successfully competed a new floor tumbling pass. Freshman, Allison Petrasek stayed on the beam for the second consecutive meet and she and sophomore, Elizabeth Quinn connected their full bar routines eliminating major deductions. Freshmen, Lauren Weisenseel had a solid all around performance placing 26th overall out of 76 competitors. Freshman, Annie Dubecky was also consistent in the all around and battling illness to contribute to the team in all 4 events. We are so proud of this team and look forward to continued success!
