The varsity tennis team advanced to the third round of the Ohio Tennis Coaches Association (OTCA) State Team Tournament with a 4-1 victory at Avon tonight. The Jaguars were led by Amara Brahmbhatt ’24, Tia Clemens ’23, and Delia Guzic ’23 who swept through singles dropping only 4 total games. The victory for Clemens was her team-leading tenth of the season.
Mary Kate Kahl ’21/Tyler Schuerlein ’23 closed out a tough 6-4, 4-6, 10-6 win with some great net play in the third set tiebreaker to give the Jags a fourth point. Catherine Mayer ’21/Grace Kamis ’21 fell in a close 4-6, 7-6, 10-6 match at second doubles. SJA is now 8-1 on the season and will travel to Boardman at a date to be determined for the next round.
