Jaguar Softball Celebrates Successful 2026 Season

The Saint Joseph Academy softball team showed resilience, growth, and determination throughout the 2026 season, highlighted by several signature victories and the emergence of a talented young core alongside impactful senior leadership.
Important team wins were secured over Toledo Saint Ursula, Lorain, Medina, and Madison. Individually, Silvia Lanese capped off an exceptional senior season by leading the Jaguars in batting average (.452), on-base percentage (.500), hits (33), and runs scored (28). She also tied for the team lead with seven stolen bases. Freshman Mary Bajakian emerged as one of the team's most impactful players, leading the Jaguars with 24 RBIs while also carrying the pitching staff with 89 innings pitched, four wins, and 64 strikeouts. Emily Johnson led the team with seven doubles, while Amelia Reyes and Mary Bajakian each recorded two triples. Liz Gus, Emily Johnson, and Ailish Ruane all connected for home runs during the season.
Defensively, Reyes posted the team's highest fielding percentage at .935, and Bajakian contributed three double plays while anchoring the defense from the circle.
The 2026 season showcased the Jaguars' ability to compete against strong opponents, overcome adversity, and develop a promising young foundation. With significant contributions from veteran leaders and underclassmen alike, Saint Joseph Academy continued to build momentum for the future while creating several memorable moments along the way. The Jaguars' success was also recognized by the Cuyahoga County Softball Coaches Association, with four players earning All-County honors. Senior Silvia Lanese and junior Emily Johnson were named Second Team All-County, while sophomore Amelia Reyes and freshman Mary Bajakian received Honorable Mention recognition. The honors reflect the impact of both the team's veteran leadership and its promising young talent throughout the season. Congratulations on an amazing season, Jaguars!
