Jaguars Shine at NEOITC Black Division Opener

Saint Joseph Academy Indoor Track & Field competed in the 1st meet of the NEOITC Black Division series with a strong showing at Spire Academy, competing against a talented field that included Beaumont, Brecksville, Chagrin Falls, Gilmour, Hudson, North Ridgeville, Padua, Tallmadge, Wadsworth, and Woodridge.
Ava Reed ’26 led the way for the Jaguars, capturing first place in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:01.32 and adding a third-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles (10.16). Leah Corrigan ’28 had an outstanding day in the field events, placing second in the long jump (14-4.75) and third in the high jump (4-6). Joelle Puni ’27 sprinted to a third-place finish in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.25.
In the distance events, Olivia Newman ’28 took second place in the 800-meter run (2:36.47), followed closely by Silvia Lanese ’26 in third (2:43.23). The Jaguars’ 4x200-meter relay team of Corrigan, Puni, A. Litten, and S. Mittendorf earned second place with a time of 1:49.60.
Mary Dial ’26 had a big day in the throws, finishing third in the shot put (28-1.5) and winning the weight throw with a mark of 28-3. Lily Flores added another podium finish, placing third in the weight throw (25-4).
Overall, the Jaguars delivered multiple podium finishes and strong performances across events, setting a great tone for the rest of the indoor season.
